To raise awareness of hunger in the U.S. — and right here in the Twin Cities — local artist coalition Squad19 has organized FUEL, a themed screen-printed art print project with proceeds benefiting Americas Second Harvest through Second Harvest Heartland. The over arching concept is "FOOD" and each series in the project will focus on a specific type or category of food.
The first series is FUEL: The Art of the Roadside Snack (i.e convenience store/gas station/truck stop food) the food that fuels your body when traveling the open road. For this project, each artist picked their favorite Convenience Store, Gas Station or Truck Stop food and created a three-color 10" x 10" screen-printed art print as homage to their chosen item(s). All prints are published by Squad19 on paper donated by Anchor Paper in a limited edition of 100 sets.
Participating artists in the first series include: Lon Unitus, David Witt, W/Remote, Punchgut Studio, Tyler Stout, Adam Turman, Johnny Crap, Jared Connor, Nathan Strandberg, Robot26, Tim Gough, Ron Liberti, Katie Kirk, Jamey Erickson and Steve Tenebrini.
